‘Would get hate for working with Bobby Deol’, Ameesha Patel recalls life after Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’s release

25 years after its theatrical release, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai has released in theatres again. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, it stars Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles. The movie made both Hrithik and Ameesha stars overnight. Their characters Rohit/Raj and Sonia became people’s favourites. Ameesha Patel recalls KNPH release days

Now that the movie has re-released in theatres, Ameesha Patel has opened up on how the fame was after Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’s release back then. The actress recalls how she and Hrithik were flooded with lots of letters and emails; some even expressed their hate. When asked if she plans to watch the movie in theatres again, Patel shared, “I had only seen it twice back then. Further in this entertainment news, Ameesha Patel talked about receiving blood and hate letters. The actress told Hindustan Times, “There were so many people, fans, who were taking our pictures to temples and churches and marrying the photos. I would get fan mail letters with the photos of me garlanded, with sindoor and the words ‘You belong to me’ written on them,” shares the 49-year-old, adding, “I would also get hate letters with some saying, ‘How can you work with Bobby (Deol) and Sunny (Deol)…you belong to me, Sonia’. The Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai actress also revealed how people from villages would stalk her and somehow found her residential address. Her watchman and security guards would push these people away from her house. Patel stated that it wasn’t the time when actors had huge entourages and there was no social media. The letters and people landing up at her place back then was another level of madness she had to deal with.
