Did you know Udit Narayan has been married twice and his son Aditya Narayan came from his second wife? In fact, both Ranjana and Deepa weren’t aware of the singer’s respective marriages. According to reports, Udit married Ranjana, his first wife, in 1985 in Bihar. At that time, the singer was not that big. Hence, his wedding news was under wraps. After the wedding, the singer moved to Mumbai for work opportunities.
In Mumbai, Udit fell in love with Deepa Gahatrah, a Nepali singer. The duo got married and they became parents to Aditya Narayan. A report by Times of India mentioned that Deepa was not aware for a long time that Udit Narayan was already married. In 2006, the singer visited Patna for a performance where his first wife, Ranjana, confronted him.
According to reports, Ranjana was accompanied by the reporters and she entered Udit Narayan’s room and confronted him. Ranjana accused Udit of hiding his marriage to Deepa and threatened him with suicide. The singer called Ranjana a stranger and said, “I don’t know this woman and have never met her before. These are just attempts to malign me,” Udit once told PTI. However, his first wife showed photos and legal documents that proved that Udit was married to her and asked for justice from the State Women’s Commission.
The State Women’s Commission summoned Udit Narayan multiple times. However, Ranjana’s legal pressure forced Udit to accept that she is his first time. Later, the singer accepted her as his wife, and she later said that she has no grudges against him, Deepa, or Aditya. “I have got what a wife should have. He has agreed to keep me along with Deepa,” Udit’s first wife said.
