In recent times, Nayanthara also trended on social media. As there is so much hullabaloo around, an old video of Nayanthara and Allu Arjun has once again resurfaced on the web. An incident that took place at an award function upset Allu Arjun fans and Nayanthara faced massive backlash for it. Here’s what happened.
Why did Nayanathara refuse to accept award from Allu Arjun?
Post the release of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Nayanthara achieved great success. Her performance was loved by all and she won the Best Actress Award. It was Allu Arjun who presented the award. However, Nayanthara when on stage refused to accept the award from Allu Arjun saying that if he does not mind, she would like to call upon stage Vignesh Shivan, and receive the award from him. Vignesh was the director of the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and reports suggest that they had started dating on the sets of this film. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan are now happily married. The director did come on stage, greeted everyone and presented the award to the actress. While the actress simply wanted to get the award from the maker of the film and her partner, Allu Arjun’s fans got agitated by her move and slammed her on social media.
On Reddit, the video went viral with many having diverse opinions about Nayanthara not accepting the award from Allu Arjun. One of the comments on the video read, “She has poor stage manners. There is another video where Shreyas Saran will say 9 is looking cute on the stage. She would just stand there and just take and she won’t even try to do any gesture back.”

Naanum Rowdy Dhaan is the same film for which Nayanthara and Dhanush recently got into a legal tussle and made it to the headlines in entertainment news. A BTS clip from the film was used in Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale documentary and producer Dhanush objected to it.
