In one of the interviews, Rupali Ganguly had shared her side of the story and revealed why she decided not to purse her career in films. And the reason is casting couch – a menace that Bollywood has been grappling with for years.
When Rupali Ganguly spoke about casting couch
In an interview with entertainment news portal Pinkvilla, Rupali Ganguly shared that when she tried to be a part of the film industry, casting couch was prevalent. She did come across casting couch and she made a decision to not give into it. Her quote read, “I didn’t do well in films, and that was a choice I made because predominantly casting couch existed in the industry at that point of time. Maybe some people didn’t come across it but people like me did come across it and I decided not to make that choice. So, you are considered a failure because you come from a film family.”
Further, she spoke about Rajan Shahi’s show Anupamaa and added that it gave her the stature. Rupali mentioned that she did feel small back then but thanks to Anupamaa, she feels very proud. The show gave her the stature that she always dreamt of and called it a life-changing experience for her.
Anupamaa TV serial produced by Rajan Shahi is one of the highest TRP raking shows. Rupali Ganguly plays the lead role and she has gained a lot of fame thanks to the show. She has become synoymous to Anupamaa and is one of the most favourite TV characters. Fans are emotionally attached to her due to this show. However, over the past few weeks, Anupamaa has dropped in its ranking on TRP chart.
