Not every actor’s debut movie turns out to be a hit. Some actors have to start their acting career with a setback. But things eventually work out in their favor. During the late 90s, one such star kid made a big debut with a romantic drama. However, the film failed at the box office and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. He even won a Filmfare award for his Bollywood debut.
But this star kid had to pay back at least Rs 1 crore.

The actor we are talking about is Fardeen Khan. In 1998, he made his grand debut with the film Prem Aggan. Directed by his father, Feroz Khan, it stars Meghna Kothari, Anupam Kher, and Raj Babbar. Sadly, the movie didn’t impress the masses. But the consequences were major, as he had to pay back checks to concerned people. Fardeen himself made these revelations.

The Heyy Babyy actor said that when his first film didn’t work, people wrote him off and he was out of work. He had to return around Rs 1 core. “I have returned that money very badly (laughs). I had to write checks and give them back to people,” revealed Khan.
Later, Fardeen Khan went on to act in some hit movies like Jungle, Pyaar Tun Kya Kiya, No Entry, Hey Babby, All the Best, etc. Khan’s last theatrical release was Dulha Mil Gaya, which was released in 2009. After that, he took a break from the acting world for at least 15 years until 2024.

In 2024, Fardeen Khan made a grand comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi series. The Netflix show also stars Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Sharmin Segal. The series is renewed for the next season.
