Another Bollywood remake song is on its way. Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film will have a remake of Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen’s song Chunari Chunari.

Recently, a video of Varun Dhawan dancing with Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur went viral. The trio was dancing on the song Chunari Chunari from Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen’s movie Biwi No 1. Reports suggest that the remake of Chunari Chunari is a part of Varun’s upcoming film Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.

Fans disappointed

As the video went viral, netizens had a drastic reaction to it. Many expressed disappointment over Bollywood recreating and remaking the old classics. One of the comments on social media read, ‘Chunari chunari ko bhi nahi chhoda saare achhe gaane barbaad kar rahe hai.’

Now Abhijeet Bhattacharya who sang the original song has reacted to Chunari Chunari being remade. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Abhijeet Bhattacharya surprisingly revealed that he wasn’t informed about the song being remade by the filmmakers.

Abhijeet Bhattacharya was quoted saying, ‘Mujhe music composer, film ke director kisi ne nahi bataya ki iss song ko remake kiya jaa raha hai. Himmat bhi nahi kar sakte batane ki.’

He also commented that for him, Chunari Chunari, was not a ‘great song’ and it was one of those that makers wanted it for the lyrics.

Abhijeet Bhattacharya also mentioned that he is not bother with the song being reimagined. He added, ‘Mujhe farak nahi padhta itni chhoti cheez se. I don’t get involved much. In the market, copies are sold more than the original. Only great people know the value of the original. Tuchhi cheez mein main padhta hi nahi hoon.’

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai release date

Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde are shooting for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai in Scotland. The movie is expected to release in April 2026.
