In the era of social media, we see the fan frenzy of every kind. But did you know that years ago, at least 50,000 people wanted to touch a big star’s feet? Many people thought of him as godlike, and the reason is quite powerful.
When this superstar stepped into Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, the drought ended, and it started raining. It made the people so happy and emotional that they wanted to touch his feet. The superstar we are talking about is Amitabh Bachchan. In an interview, director Apoorva Lakhia revealed, “We were shooting Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost in Jaisalmer, and there was a drought there at the time. Amitabh Bachchan was coming there for New Year’s with Jaya ji, Shweta, and Amar Singh, and we were shooting somewhere in the desert. You could tell from afar that his fleet was coming because no one in Jaisalmer had seen that many luxury cars at once.”
Further in this interview with Friday Talkies, Apoorva revealed that when Amitabh Bachchan set his foot on the land of Jaisalmer, dark clouds started forming, like a scene from Aamir Khan’s Lagaan. When Big B got out of the car and hugged his son Abhishek Bachchan, it started raining heavily. Lakhia revealed, “It started raining so much that rivers were flooded and our entire village got ruined. After that, outside the hotel, there used to be 40,000-50,000 people wanting to touch his feet because they thought God had come. There was no water in Jaisalmer and then the rivers were flooded. I saw that with my own eyes.”
Apoorva Lakhia further praised Amitabh Bachchan and his level of stardom. The director said how Big B’s aura just keeps increasing over the years.
