The gorgeous actress spent two years in Rikers Island jail to study the human psychology of prison inmates in New York. During her stay in jail, she taught theatre to several murder convicts. During an interview, she said, “I did not have any kind of training. I came with a completely clean slate. I have not gone to NSD or FTI like other artists. I worked in New York’s Riker Island Jail. It is a high-security jail for men and women. There, I worked with a female prisoner and a male prisoner for two years and to be honest, that’s where I got my acting training. I was there with students as well as prisoners at the same time. There I was able to understand not only crime but also human complexities.”
Tillotama Shome tied the knot with Kunal Ross, son of Nita Bhaduri, Jaya Bachchan’s sister in 2015. Abhishek Bachchan is her brother-in-law, while Aishwarya is her sister-in-law. The entire Bachchan family attended their wedding.
On the work front, Tillotama made her debut in Monsoon Wedding (2001) and continued to appear in films like Gangor, Shanghai, Angrezi Medium, and more. She was last seen in Paatal Lok season 2, wherein she played the role of Meghna Barua, a Nagaland police officer.
