Suriya starrer collects Rs 22 crores on opening day, fails to beat Indian 2, Vettaiyan

Kanguva is one of the most awaited films of this year which is directed by Siva and headlined by Suriya. This reincarnation action drama Kanguva was released in theatres on November 14. It starred Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Yogi Babu, Natarajan Subramaniam, KS Ravikumar, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, and Mansoor Ali Khan in pivotal roles. Suriya’s brother Karthi is also a part of this film and did a cameo role. Suriya starrer Kanguva has received mixed negative reviews from audiences and critics. Kanguva box office collection day 1

Some netizens have praised Suriya‘s performance, good action sequences and more, while others have slammed the weak narration, and poor script. Kanguva has taken a low opening at the box office than expected. The film managed to earn Rs 21.35 crore, as per the early estimates from box office tracking portal Sacnilk. Well, the major share of earnings has come from the Tamil version which is around Rs 13 crore. The Telugu and the Hindi dubbed versions received Rs 5 crore and Rs 3.25 crore, respectively. Well, Suriya starrer has failed to beat the opening day collections of Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, and Thalapathy Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time aka GOAT and other films. Thalapathy Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time aka GOAT still remains the highest opening Tamil film of 2024 as it collected Rs 44 crore, while Vettaiyan collected Rs 31.75 crore and Indian 2 got Rs 25.60 crore. Bobby Deol starrer Kanguva is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja, V Vamsi Krishna Reddy, and Pramod Uppalapati under their banners Studio Green and UV Creations. If reports are to be believed, the film was made on a budget of Rs 350 crore. The film is set in the 11th century. Kanguva is about a medieval warrior and his reincarnation, Francis, as he faces off against his nemesis.
