THIS Hollywood film was made on a budget of 160 million dollars but became world’s biggest flop, earned only…

Some movies are made on a big budget with massive expectations. While some of them become hits, some terribly flop. Some movies fail badly despite having promising actors in them. One such Hollywood movie was made during the 90s. The budget, the expectation, and the anticipation were great. Sadly, the results were not as good as expected.

World’s biggest flop film

The Hollywood movie we are talking about was made on a budget of 160 million dollars. Titled The 13th Warrior, it was released in the year 1999. Despite having all the buzz, the Hollywood action flick was a disaster at the box office. It hardly earned even 60 million dollars at the box office. The movie is cited as the ‘world’s biggest flop film’.

The 13th Warrior is helmed by John McTiernan and featured Veilu Vladimir Kulich, Antonio Banderas, Dennis Storhøi, Omar Sharif, and Richard Bremmer. The movie was adapted from Michael Crichton’s novel Eaters of the Dead, which was lightly based on the tale of Beowulf, coming from Ahmad ibn Fadlan’s historical accounts of the Volga Vikings. The screenplay was written by William Wisher Jr. and Warren Lewis.

The movie received negative reviews and even the audience was not impressed with the same. Omar Sharif was so disheartened with the movie’s terrible performance that he took a short break from acting until 2003. During the screening of Monsieur Ibrahim, Omar had said, “After my small role in The Thirteenth Warrior with Antonio Banderas, I said to myself, ‘Let us stop this nonsense, these meal-tickets that we do because it pays well. Unless I find a stupendous film that I love. And that makes me want to leave home to do; I will stop.’ Bad pictures are very humiliating; I was really sick. It is terrifying to have to do the dialogue from bad scripts, to face a director who does not know what he is doing in a film so bad that it is not even worth exploring.”
