Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s new web series Heeramandi is in the news for more than one reason. The web series streaming on Netflix has caught everyone’s attention as it is a period drama of sorts based in Lahore, in pre-Independence era. The story narrates about the journey of courtesans from Lahore’s Heeramandi. After the release of the web series, the makers and even the cast are on receiving end as netizens are not very impressed with it. Sharmin Segal who plays the role of Alamzeb in faced a lot of criticism on social media for her performance in the web series. Nepotism was also dragged in as she happens to be the niece of Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Sharmin Segal has been called out by netizens for not giving her best performance in Heeramandi. She is receiving a lot of harsh remarks and many are commenting that she got the role only because she has a connection with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, Sharmin Segal may have just indirectly reacted to these remarks by dropping pictures from her look test. It could be her way of showing that she went through the grill and in fact it is only after auditions and look test that she bagged the role of Alamzeb in Heeramandi. However, Sharmin continues to keep her comments section closed. The actress seems to keeping distance from all the negativity and trolling.
