Shah Rukh Khan once called his father ‘the most successful failure’, know who is Mir Taj Mohammad
Who isn’t a fan of Shah Rukh Khan? The actor has made everyone fall in love with him, courtesy his incredible onscreen performances. He has been in the industry since 1988. His journey from being a TV star to the ‘Badshah of Bollywood’ is nothing short of incredible. The actor continues to leave fans surprised and impressed with the versatile performances he gives on the big screen. He made everyone fall in love with his performances in 2023 with Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki. Now, we are all waiting for him to come back with another super hit movie.
SRK’s relationship with his family is truly heartwarming. His love and respect for his parents, especially his father, has often been focused on in his interviews and public appearances. The story of his father’s transition from a lawyer to a tea stall owner speaks volume about the resilience and humility that SRK values so much. SRK had once called his father “the most successful failure” which reflects his deep admiration for his father’s ability to stay positive despite hardships.
Later, in a chat with Anupam Kher on his show, Shah Rukh Khan revealed why he called his father, Mir Taj Mohammad ‘the most successful failure.’ He said that his father was a lawyer first but he did not practice as he felt that was not right.
He also revealed that his father was the youngest freedom fighter and even got a copper medal for it. The superstar revealed that his father went to the jail at the age of 14-15 and also contested an election against Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad which he lost.
He further shared that his father started a big business and failed. He added that Mir Taj Mohammad started a furniture business, which failed, then he did transport business and failed again. He then went on to star a restaurant which was a failure again. However, later, a small place was given to freedom fighters behind a hospital where he used to make and sell tea.

SRK then said that his father as an MA LLB and was a very educated man. He said that whatever he is because of his father. He shared, “He neither joined politics nor took advantage of being a freedom fighter. He was very honest. In his last days, he used to run a mess in NSD.” SRK’s father Mir Taj Mohammad died of cancer in 1981.
