She has been trolled for the way she has been speaking in her interviews. People feel she has a lot of attitude problems and is not liked by her costars as well. A lot has been said about casting her in the series as netizens feel she cannot act.

Now, finally Sanjay Leela Bhansali has explained why he has cast his niece Sharmin as Alamzeb. He spoke to India Today and said Sharmin has a face that is just what Alamzeb would be who doesn’t want to be tawaif and is not a tawaif. He added that he needed someone really fresh and innocent for the role of Alamzeb.

He wanted someone who can portray the feelings on Alamzeb well. He said that Sharmin had the qualities to be Alamzeb and not because she is my niece. He shared that he took a number of tests to get Alamzeb right as Sharmin has never been into acting while all the others have been experienced.
