‘Everyone is trying to make…’

Anurag Kashyap is known for speaking his mind, no filter whatsoever. A few months ago, he made headlines when he expressed his desire to move to the South industry. Turns out, he was extremely serious about his decision to quit Bollywood. In a recent interview, Anurag Kashyap confirmed that he has left Mumbai and relocated to a city in South. While he did not reveal the exact location, rumours have it that the filmmaker has shifted his base to Bengaluru. In an interview with The Hindu, Anurag Kashyap shared that he has paid the first rent of his new home, far away from Mumbai and Hindi film industry. True to his words, Anurag confirmed that he has relocated as the Hindi film industry has become very “toxic”. He said, “I’ve left Mumbai. I want to stay away from film people. The industry has become too toxic. Everyone is chasing unrealistic targets, trying to make the next Rs 500 or Rs 800 crore film. The creative atmosphere is gone.” Anurag also added that the decision of relocation has had a positive impact on him. The filmmaker mentioned that it has improved the physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Anurag is currently looking forward to the release of the much-anticipated Malayalam film Footage. While the popular filmmaker has quit Bollywood, he is busy with his projects in the South film industry. He has now acted in quite a few South films including Maharaj starring Vijay Sethupathi. More recently, he featured in Malayalam-action comedy Rifle Club that received rave reviews from the viewers. Earlier, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Anurag Kashyap had spoken about his decision to choose South over Bollywood. He said, “I am going to the South. I want to go where there is stimulation. Otherwise, I will die as an old man. I am so disappointed and disgusted by my own industry. I am disgusted by the mindset.”
