As former Indian cricket coach Ravi Shastri celebrates his 63rd birthday on Tuesday, an old video of him discussing his private life has gone viral on the internet. Veteran Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri has always been known for his colorful love life before he was married to Ritu Singh in the year 1990; some sources even say that he once flew to meet Argentinian tennis legend Gabriella Sabatini.
An old video on Tuesday went viral in which Ravi Shastri is heard speaking about his ‘girlfriend’ Amrita Singh. In the video, the veteran cricketer can be heard saying, “When I met my girlfriend for the first time, Amrita Singh. You must have seen her in films. I met her for the first time in a restaurant in Mumbai. I did not say anything for the initial ten minutes. I knew that I was shy with girls, but I did not know that I would not even get a chance to speak. She kept talking for ten minutes. This was my most embarrassing moment.”

The couple had almost gotten close to getting married as well, but Ravi Shastri and Amrita Singh did not tie the knot, and after their breakup, Amrita Singh went on to marry popular Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan in January 1991. The couple had two children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, but ended up getting divorced 13 years later in 2004. Ravi Shastri and Amrita Singh had famously posed together for a famous film magazine, ‘Blitz’, back in November 1986.
While clarifying why Ravi Shastri did not marry Amrita Singh, the legendary cricketer said, “I definitely don’t want an actress as a wife. I am chauvinistic. Her home should be her first priority.” After his breakup with Amrita Singh, Shastri married Ritu Singh in 1990 and ended his marriage after 22 years in 2012.
