Rajinikanth recalls the phase when ‘Bollywood was laughing at Amitabh Bachchan’ due to financial losses; ‘He wasn’t even able to pay…’

Both the stars have gone through their own struggles in lives. Now, after almost three decades, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan are going to come together on-screen in Vettaiyan. Recently, at the audio launch of Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth recalled about his struggle and even mentioned about the phase when Amitabh Bachchan suffered through huge financial loses. As per a report in India Today, Rajinikanth recalled that when Amitabh Bachchan started producing movies, he incurred a big loss. The impact was such that Big B was not even able to pay his watchman and his Juhu home went into public biding. At that time, ‘the whole of Bollywood was laughing at him,’ said Rajinikanth. He further went on to add that in next three years, Amitabh Bachchan recovered by works on ads and KBC. “He did all the ads, KBC earned all the money and bought back three homes along with the Juhu home on the same street. He is such an inspiration. He is 82-years-old, and he is working for 10 hours a day,” said Rajinikanth. The Jailer star also mentioned that Amitabh Bachchan’s father is a great writer but Big B did not seek any family influence and even suffered a terrible accident. At that time, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was attending a conference abroad and she returned to India to meet Big B, recalled Rajinikanth. “Only then did everyone know that Rajiv Gandhi and Amitabh ji had studied together,” he added. Vettaiyan is slated to release in the month of October 2024. Fahadh Faasil also has a pivotal role to play in the film that is helmed by TJ Gnanavel.
