Thug Life starring Kamal Haasan is directed by Mani Ratnam. The highly anticipated movie released on June 5. Unfortunately, due to a controversy, the movie did not release in Karnataka. The film received rave reviews upon release in other states. However, it is witnessing a slow progress at the box office. After a good first day collection, the movie witnessed a dip in its numbers. As per Sacnilk.com, Kamal Haasan starrer Thug Life made around Rs 7.14 crore on first Saturday. The Tamil version is said to have made around Rs 6.38 crore, Hindi version collected approximately Rs 0.24 crore and the Telugu version made around Rs 0.52 crore. The reports suggests that on first Sunday, the movie has made around Rs 2.57 crore so far. The total collection of he film currently stands at Rs 32.36 crore given that it made around Rs 15.5 crore on first day and Rs 7.15 crore on the second day. Going by the first weekend trend, it seems unlikely that Thug Life would be able to hit the milestone of Rs 50 crore over the first weekend. This is despite the film having a four-day window at the box office post its release before the end of first weekend.
Thug Life also seems to be facing competition from Akshay Kumar’s recently released movie Housefull 5. It is a multi-starrer as it also features Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Jacqueline Fernandez, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar and many more in key roles. It also has a cameo by Bobby Deol. Housefull 5 has managed to cross the mark of Rs 50 crore within two days of its release. The film hit the theatres on June 6 and made around Rs 55 crore in the first two days. So far, on first Sunday, the movie has made around Rs 15.8 crore. The total collection has reported touched Rs 70 crore mark. It is anticipated that the movie will touch the mark of Rs 100 crore in the upcoming two days.
