PM Modi lauds Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava for bringing Sambhaji Maharaj’s legacy to the big screen: ‘Making waves throughout country’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s recent release Chhaava which revolves around the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. While talking about the film, PM Modi said it is “making waves throughout the country”. While addressing Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in New Delhi, PM Modi said, “It is Maharashtra and Mumbai which has given a new height to Marathi as well as Hindi cinema. And these days, Chhaava is making waves throughout the country (In dino to Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai). The movie’s impact remains indelible at the Box Office as well as it continues to rake in the moolah in its first week. On Friday, the makers of the film had shared with the viewers an interesting box office update of Chhaava. They revealed that the film has crossed ₹300 crore at the global box office. For the unversed, Chhaava has emerged as the first Hindi film to do so in 2025 so far. Vicky was also quick to take to his Instagram Stories to share a quick box office update. With its continuous successful run, Chhaava has now crossed ₹310.50 crore at the worldwide box office that too within the first week of release.

As reported by Sacnilk.com, Chhaava has entered the coveted ₹ 200 crore club in India. In the first week, its overall collections stand at ₹ 225.28 crore.

Such has been the impact of the film that Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant gave his nod to make it tax-free in the state. The film was earlier made tax-free in Madhya Pradesh.
