Not Janhvi Kapoor, THIS actress to lead Sridevi’s Mom sequel? Boney Kapoor reveals, ‘I hope…’

Sridevi’s last theatrical release was the 2017 film MOM. In the crime drama, she plays a fierce mother who would go to any extent to save her daughter. The movie also helped the actress win the National Award in the Best Actress category (posthumously). It is cited as one of the best performances of her career. But it looks like the actress’ husband and movie’s producer, Boney Kapoor, has plans to make a sequel.
If you think Janhvi Kapoor will get cast in MOM 2, you are wrong. Boney Kapoor wants to cast his younger daughter Khushi Kapoor in the sequel. About the same, Boney told media during the IIFA Awards 2025 green carpet, “I have watched all of Khushi’s films. ‘Archies,’ ‘Loveyappa,’ and ‘Nadaaniyaan.’. I am planning a film with her too after ‘No Entry.’. It would be a movie with Khushi. It could be ‘Mom 2.’. She is trying to follow in the footsteps of her mother. Her mother was the top star in all the languages she worked in. I hope Khushi and Janhvi succeeded in this same level of perfection.”
Boney Kapoor also shared a major update on the No Entry sequel. Kapoor stated, “It (No Entry) will go sometime in July-August. There are too many leading ladies, so I can’t just talk about a few now. We have locked a few now and have some more to go. After we finalise, there will be a formal announcement.”
Meanwhile, Khushi Kapoor appeared in her third film with Netflix’s Nadaaniyan. Also starring Ibrahim Ali Khan, it has received mixed reviews from critics but the audience has severely bashed it. The movie marks Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s son Ibrahim’s debut in the film industry.
