Netizens compare the horror-comedy with Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2; pick the best
Maddock Films released two horror comedy movies this year in theatres: Munjya and Stree 2. The former was released in theatres in June, and the latter hit cinemas on August 15. On Saturday, the horror comedy featuring Abhay Varma and Sharvari was released on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar. As soon as the movie was released, many watched it and shared their opinions on social media. Some people even compared it with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s movie.
Several people think that Abhay Varma and Sharvari’s Munjya are better than Stree 2. Some even called it the best movie in Maddock Films’ supernatural or horror-comedy universe, which also includes Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya. But there were also those who claimed that the best one was the Stree franchise. A tweet reads, “#Munjya is the best film in the Maddock supernatural universe; it isn’t a perfect film, but it is better than the other films in that universe.”
One more fan posted, “#Munjya is easily the better film compared to #Stree2.” Well, the entertainment news piece becomes interesting as some came in defence of Stree 2. “#Stree2 is a better film than #Munjya.” Another fan posted that Munya is a one-time watch, and people can watch it for future reference in Maddock’s horror universe. They believe it’s better than Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, but not as great as Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree or Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya.

Meanwhile, Munjya was also a superhit at the box office. It is one of the best movies of 2024, having crossed Rs 100 crore at the box office. On the other hand, Stree 2 has surpassed the Rs 500 crore worldwide box office collection. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the movie also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee.

The horror-comedy universe is now only going to expand. The makers have already confirmed that they’re working on Stree 2. Varun Dhawan will return in Bhediya 2. Munjya’s ending teased that there’s more to the story, and we can expect a sequel to the same. Further, Ayushmann Khurrana’s Vampire movie is indirectly hinted in Stree 2’s end credits scene. All we can do now is wait for the makers to officially announce it.
