Meet the light-eyed beauty Karisma Kapoor. Born to Randhir Kapoor and Babita Kapoor, Karisma hails from the most prestigious filmy clan – the Kapoor clan. The legendary Raj Kapoor is her grandfather. Most of the Kapoor men tried their hands at acting. But Karisma Kapoor was the first woman from her family to enter films. Her father Randhir Kapoor did not support her decision back then. But mother Babita Kapoor kept her motivated.
In one of the interviews, Randhir called himself a ‘bad father’ for not being a supportive. In an interview with a radio channel, Randhir spoke about not supporting his daughters’ career choice initially and said, “That way, I have been a very bad father, but then main bawla hoon, everyone knows I am a bit mad. I don’t want to work very hard, I don’t want to work in many pictures. Offers still come, but I don’t. I have earned in my life; now my kids earn much more than me, so I am content.”
Karisma Kapoor made her acting debut in 1991 with Prem Qaidi. She was barely 16. She then appeared in many big films like Raja Hindustani, Andaz Apna Apna, Coolie No 1, Hero No 1, Dil Toh Pagal Hai and more. She shared screen space with some of the biggest stars like Govinda, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and others.
It was after wedding with industrialist Sanjay Kapur that she quit acting. However, she went through a rough patch and a tedious divorce proceedings a few year after marriage. She did make a comeback to films. However, her films did not work well post comeback. She now judges India’s Best Dancer season 4.
