Meet actress Madhoo
We are talking about Madhoobala Raghunath Malini who is now known as Madhoo Shah. She marked her Bollywood debut with Phool Aur Kante that starred Ajay Devgn in leading role. It was his first film and it turned out to be a blockbuster hit. Her most iconic film remains to be Roja. The Tamil film released in 1992 and it starred Arvind Swamy in the leading role. It received huge critical acclaim.
In one of the interviews, Madhoo had spoken about her struggle. To Bollywood Bubble, she had once revealed that Hema Malini is her cousin and her mother was a dancer. Thus, the environment around her was all about dance, music and films. She is also married to Juhi Chawla‘s husband’s cousin. Despite the filmy background, she shared that she did everything herself to achieve success. Her father did not want her to become an actor as he wanted her to be a doctor. She mentioned that she did not have the support or the confidence, and she had to get out of self-doubt.
Madhoo also shared how she was replaced from her first film. The actress was quoted saying, “My father was a producer, so he had a film Awaargi, which had Anil Kapoor, Govinda, and Meenakshi. I had gone for the song recording of that film. When a producer saw me there, he told my father that he wanted to cast me in a film. But my father got angry about it. But then I told my father to say yes. Then he got me trained. But when the film started, after four days only, he felt that I was not ready and I was replaced.”
Madhoo Shah was last seen in the film Kartam Bhugtam that released in 2024. She is still pretty much active as an actor and has also appeared in TV serials. She was recently seen in Zee5’s Manorathangal.
