Meet actress who left Industry after 3 movies for Islam, gave 2 superhits Dangal, Secret Superstar
It is luck for any celebrity to taste success with the first film. Not all are able to deliver blockbusters with debut films. But, then there are exceptions. However, it is even more rare for a celebrity to exit the industry after delivering back-to-back successes. Stars retiring after a successful career is expected but it does come as a shock to many if a celebrity exits the industry at the very beginning of the journey. Here’s an actress who quit Bollywood after just delivering three films.
This actress began her acting journey at the age of 16. She featured in Aamir Khan‘s superhit movie Dangal. The young diva managed to impress all. Hailing from Srinagar, this actress received immense love for her acting chops. But there came a shocker after she decided to quit Bollywood for Faith.
Which actress quit Bollywood for Faith?
The lady in discussion is Zaira Wasim. She played the role of Geeta Phogat in Dangal that released in 2016. It was a biographical sports drama and broke several records at the box office. Till today, it is the highest grossing Bollywood film worldwide. The actress then appeared in movies like Secret Superstar and Sky Is Pink. Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar received massive box office success while Sky Is Pink starring Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra received major critical acclaim. She received much love and many accolades. She also won a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. But in 2019, she dropped the bomb that went viral on entertainment news.
Zaira Wasim took to social media to announce her retirement from the film industry. She decided to quit the film industry for her religious belief and faith. A part of her note read, “She wrote a long note on social media stating that she wasn’t truly happy with the identity. A part of it read, “This field indeed brought a lot of love, support, and applause my way, but what it also did was to lead me to a path of ignorance, as I silently and unconsciously transitioned out of imaan. While I continued to work in an environment that consistently interfered with my imaan, my relationship with my religion was threatened. As I continued to ignorantly pass through while I kept trying to convince myself that what I was doing is okay and isn’t really affecting me, I lost all the Barakah from my life.”
