The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting recently announced the winners of the 70th National Film Awards 2024. This year’s awards, along with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu in October 2024. South Indian films and stars dominate the winners’ list this year, with actor Rishab Shetty receiving the Best Actor award for his outstanding performance in Kantara. Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya has been honored with the Best Director award for his film Uunchai.In an exciting turn, two actresses have been awarded the Best Actress award this year: Nithya Menen for Thiruchitrambalam and Mansi Parekh for Kutch Express. Renowned actor Manoj Bajpayee received a Special Mention for his performance in the direct-to-OTT film Gulmohar, which also won Best Hindi Film. The 70th National Film Awards highlight the excellence of South Indian cinema while celebrating talent across various categories.
