In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Madhur Bhandarkar discussed this issue and shared his experience working with Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and Tabu. The director revealed how the trio agreed to slash their fees for him.
In an interview with the entertainment news portal, Fashion director Madhur Bhandarkar revealed that the female actors in his films were very supportive and reduced their fees because they were enthusiastic about working on his projects. The filmmaker stated that Tabu did not charge anything for Chandni Bar. However, she took compensation based on the film’s distribution in certain regions. Beyond that, she didn’t charge a single penny. Similarly, Raveena Tandon and Bipasha Basu both lowered their prices for their roles in Satta and Corporate, respectively.
In the same interview, Bhandarkar revealed that even top stars like Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor agreed to reduced fees for their roles in his movies. The main objective of these actresses was to contribute to the films’ success. The director appreciated their dedication and willingness to work within his budget.

In the meantime, numerous directors, including Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Farah Khan, Rohit Shetty, and others, have expressed their perspectives on the escalating expenses associated with celebrities’ entourages. While Karan and Farah agreed that some stars have high demands, Rohit said that if producers agree, then stars will definitely make such demands. Actor Sameer Soni also criticised Farah and Karan for hiring actors who charge high fees instead of casting someone who could perform the same work at a lower cost.
