‘Happened with Shah Rukh Khan for 5-7 years’, Akshay Kumar’s flop streak addressed by Khel Khel Mein director Mudassar Aziz

Akshay Kumar had three releases in 2024 so far—Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Sarfira, and Khel Khel Mein. However, despite receiving positive reviews for KKM, the film struggled at the box office like the first two releases. Khel Khel Mein, directed by Mudassar Aziz, particularly failed to perform well financially, even though Akshay’s return to comedy in the film was praised. The movie faced stiff competition from Stree 2 and Vedaa at the box office. This adds to a growing list of films in recent years where the actor has struggled to deliver a significant hit. When asked about Akshay’s current phase in a recent interview, Khel Khel Mein director Mudassar Aziz felt it wasn’t his place to comment on someone with Akshay’s vast experience. Mudassar pointed out that Akshay has been in the film industry for 33 years and continues to work hard to prove his worth and maintain his stardom. He mentioned that Akshay is a thoughtful individual who carefully considers many factors when making decisions. Mudassar said that the actor’s recent string of flops is temporary and not reflective of his long-standing talent and success. The director said it has become common for people to quickly write off actors during their low phases. He believes Akshay is resilient and determined to return to the top. The director expressed that working with Akshay Kumar on Khel Khel Mein has been an exhilarating experience for him. Further in this entertainment news piece, the Pati Patni Aur Woh director stated that in his and many people’s eyes, he will always be ‘Akshay Kumar’.
