Famous Bollywood couple had interfaith wedding, she introduced him to family as Hindu, faced protest
Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan are one of the most popular couples in the Bollywood. The two have been married for over 30 years and are parents to Aryan, Suhana and AbRam. The two give major love goals to many with their strong and deep bond. There was a time when Gauri’s parents were not keen on her decision to marry Shah Rukh. In an interview in 2008, Gauri spoke about the same and said that her parents were ‘obviously not for it’. Gauri was only 21 years when she married Shah Rukh, who was 26 then. ‘We were so young and then to take a decision to get married and to a person who is going to join films, and being from a different religion’, Gauri told to Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla on their show First Ladies.
She also recalled when she had changed Shah Rukh Khan’s name to Abhinav so the parents could feel that he was Hindu. Gauri also said that their kids celebrate festivals of both religions and for them it is fantastic. Gauri added saying, ‘When it’s Diwali, I lead the pooja and the family follows and on Eid, Shah Rukh leads, and we follow. I think it’s all very beautiful and the kids accept. In fact, my children are more inclined towards whatever Shah Rukh would say. For them Diwali, Eid, all are fantastic’. In an interview with Outlook Turning Points in 2013, SRK spoke about his children’s religion and said that, ‘Sometimes, they ask me what religion they belong to and, like a good Hindi movie hero, I roll my eyes up to the sky and declare philosophically, ‘You are an Indian first and your religion is humanity”, or sing them an old Hindi film ditty, “Tu Hindu banega na Musalmaan banega – insaan ki aulaad hai insaan banega” set to Gangnam Style’.

Further in this entertainment news, SRK and Gauri got married away from everyone’s eyes, as people came to know about them applying for their marriage registration from the court and created a chaos outside their house. He said, ‘There was going to be a hassle in terms of if you were to marry in the court, you have to put it across for a month and when you do that, there were some institutions who took offence to me marrying a girl who is from a different religion’. He even revealed that they had protested outside their house and said that people were throwing stones at his friend whose address he had given.
