Did you know Shah Rukh Khan’s Darr was offered to Aamir Khan? Dangal Star once revealed why he wasn’t cast in it

Shah Rukh Khan’s association with Yash Raj Films started with the 1993 film Darr. In the Yash Chopra directorial, SRK played the villain Rahul, an obsessive and one-sided lover who would go to any extent to get Kiran (Juhi Chawla). The film also starred Sunny Deol in the lead role. Darr was offered to Shah Rukh when many top stars were refusing to play the bad guy. Yash Chopra initially thought Aamir Khan was an apt actor to play Rahul in Darr. The late filmmaker even offered the role to the Ishq star. However, Aamir was later excluded from the film. In an interview, the Dangal star revealed why he wasn’t cast in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer. As reported by News 18, in an interview with Sushma Dutt in Vancouver, Aamir Khan opened up about not getting to be a part of Yash Chopra’s iconic romantic thriller. The superstar expressed his admiration for the story and praised Chopra as a very good director. Khan mentioned having worked with Chopra on Parampara and expressed his keen interest in collaborating with him again. However, the actor highlighted his principle or policy when working on a film with two heroes or more: He requests the director for a joint narration. Further, Aamir Khan also shared how, during Andaz Apna Apna with Salman Khan, Salman and him received a joint narration. It helps both actors to be satisfied with their roles and prevents any issues in the future. Aamir likes to work this way, and with Darr, it wasn’t possible as Yash Chopra didn’t give a joint narration. Hence, he was removed from the project.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan was last seen in Laal Singh Chaddha (2022). It’s a Hindi remake of the Hollywood film Forrest Gump, which stars Tom Hanks in the lead role. Directed by Advait Chandan, LSC also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya. Currently, the actor is busy with his next project, Sitaare Zameen Par. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film also stars Genelia D’Souza in a pivotal role.
