AR Murugadoss recalls shooting with Salman Khan amid death threats to the superstar, ‘We often…’

Salman Khan’s Sikandar is one of the major releases of 2025 and we are just a few days away from the release. Directed by AR Murugadoss, Salman has gotten into full intense and action mode for the upcoming thriller. For Murugadoss, it is a Hindi directorial after almost a decade. During the shooting of Sikandar, Salman Khan was receiving a lot of death threats. The superstar’s security was also tightened, especially after the assassination of Baba Siddiqui. The death threats were given to Salman by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. In an interview, the director has talked about the challenges of shooting the film amid all this. In an interview with ETimes, AR Murugadoss said, “The scale of Sikandar was massive—we often had scenes with 10,000 to 20,000 people on set. Managing such large crowds required high security and intense coordination. “Post that, the security was tightened, and the checking of all the extra artists on the sets would take 2-3 hours daily. Their entries and check-ups took the majority of our day and we often started the shoot late and ended late by the wee hours of the morning. Our biological cycle went on the toss. But once we adapted, it became a routine, and the set had a very positive energy,” added the director.

Furthermore, AR Murugadoss shared why Salman Khan is perfect for Sikandar. The director stated that the story demanded a larger-than-life character and Salman, being a fan favourite, is the perfect fit. The Ghajini director added, “His persona and presence bring weight to the character and the narrative. Once you see the film, you’ll understand why he was the ideal choice.”
