Apoorva Mukhija, who got embroiled in legal trouble after she had featured in a controversial episode of Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent, has made a comeback to Instagram. Amid the IGL controversy, Apoorva had made a conscious decision to stay quiet on social media. However, on March 14, Apoorva uploaded a string of cryptic messages to greet her fans. Apoorva took to her Instagram channel to speak to her fans.
One of her messages Apoorva shared read, “Diwaaro ke bhi kaan hote hain (Even walls have ears).” Apoorva was also quick to thank all her fans for their support during the IGL controversy. For the unversed, Apoorva’s last message was uploaded on February 10. The last message she had posted read, “This is not how I should be rn.” On February 12, Maharashtra Cyber had recorded the statement of Apoorva in connection with the ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy. The Maharashtra Cyber and the Mumbai police have been investigating podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial remarks which he made on Samay Raina’s YouTube show, which led to an obscenity case. India’s Got Latent, came under police’s scrutiny after Allahbadia made crude comments about parents and sex, which further led to widespread backlash. Apoorva said, “The show was not scripted. We were not given any money for the show. The theme of the show was to talk freely and there were no barriers of language. The reaction was natural.”
After getting threats, Apoorva remained quite on social media. While Apoorva had disabled her comments section, her friend Ridha Tharana had written a note to clap back at trolls. She wrote, “I’ve never doubted that some people hate women simply for being women just for breathing, existing, loving themselves, and daring to grow. A woman could have the same issue as anyone else, but the fact that she’s a woman always makes it worse. How do you ever feel safe when you’re constantly threatened, scared for your life, and living in a country that was supposed to protect you? It’s so unfair, the hate and cruelty she’s being put through. I just hope none of you ever have to experience what she’s going through.”
