Anupamaa actress Rupali Ganguly, who is said to be one of the highest-paid TV stars, has also ventured into politics. In 2024, the actress joined Bharatiya Janta Party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Since then, the actress has been vocal about a lot of topics that concern the nation. Recently, Rupali Ganguly lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for breaking menstrual taboos with his speech at the Red Fort. She lauded him for providing basic necessity like sanitary pads to girls in rural India.

In an interview with news agency IANS, Anupamaa star Rupali Ganguly recalled the landmark speech delivered by Narendra Modi at the Red Fort where he spoke about menstrual health. She lauded his move to implement affordable sanitary pad distribution system and provide hygiene education. Further, she mentioned that she feels very proud to know that a world leader like him talked about menstrual health at the Red Fort. She added, “And sanitary pads—affordable sanitary pads—reaching every woman, that was a matter of great pride for me. As a woman, I felt proud. There are so many girls who drop out of school because they don’t have knowledge about menstrual hygiene. So many girls drop out—some are ashamed, some don’t know how to use cloth properly.” She mentioned that teaching menstrual hygiene in schools is a big deal.

Later, Rupali Ganguly also shared the video on X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote about Government providing sanitary pads at Rs 1 per piece. She wrote, “Under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), the government introduced the Suvidha brand, offering biodegradable sanitary pads at ₹1 per piece. Over 77 crore sanitary pads have been distributed through Jan Aushadhi Kendras, with more than 5 crore provided in a short period by 2020.”

Rupali Ganguly is currently seen in television show Anupamaa that is the number one show on the TRP charts. The actress is among the most favourite ones and has become synoymous with her character.
