A movie can break or make an actor’s career. But imagine an actor’s career getting ruined by just one dialogue. Here’s a story of a star who made his debut with a Yash Chopra film. He shared the screen space with some of the biggest names in the industry like Sridevi, Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Waheeda Rehman and others. The film was supposed to launch his glorious career in Bollywood. Instead, it led to his downfall.

The actor we are talking about is Deepak Malhotra. Once a successful model, Deepak Malhotra bagged his Bollywood debut with Yash Chopra. He played a pivotal role in the movie Lamhe that starred Sridevi and Anil Kapoor in leading roles. He played the role of Sidharth Kumar in the movie. However, one dialogue of his ruined his career. In one of the scenes, his character Sidharth tries to wake up Sridevi’s character Pallavi who has fainted. He addresses her as ‘Pallo’ and that served as fodder for many jokes and memes. Many critics pointed out his wooden performance in the film. He was criticised so much that he lost out all the other projects.

Reportedly, Yash Chopra had locked Deepak Malhotra for the movie Darr. However, after the negative remarks, he got replaced by Suny Deol. Further, Deepak was also supposed to be a part of Salman Khan’s movie Suryavanshi. But that did not happen. Deepak lost out Bekhudi to Kamal Sadanah. Even Junoon was offered to him but it the went to Rahul Roy. The actor who was once considered to be a competition to Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, had lost out all the films by 1993.

After all of this, Deepak Malhotra reportedly moved to America in 1994 and changed his name to Dino Martelli. He continued modelling and has now reportedly started his own apparel brand. For more entertainment news, stay tuned to BollywoodLife.
