Television actress Rupali Ganguly, who plays the role of Anupamaa in Ranaj Shahi’s show recently took to her Instagram stories to share her views on the animal sacrifice ahead of Bakri Eid. Her post is going viral on social media, wherein she has urged compassion for all living beings. She even raised questions about associating violence with religious practice.

In her Instagram story, she wrote, “Killing an innocent animal in the name of God cannot be religious at all. God will never be happy with this. All living beings are equal to God. The actress is an animal lover and has been an advocate for animal rights and welfare. She has always taken a stand against cruelty to animals. Rupali has not mentioned Bakri Eid directly, but her message is focused on the principle of universal compassion.

She is quite active on social media and has always been supporting animal welfare for decades now. In 2023, she wrote a formal letter to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee requesting an end to horse-drawn carriages in Kolkata. She urged the state to replace them with electric carriages. During Republic Day in 2023, Rupali pledged to protect the gauvansh (cows and other bovine animals). She highlighted cases of cruelty and called for reforms. Talking about her show Anupamaa, she will be seen starting a new chapter in Mumbai. She said, “For a mother, her children and family always come first as did it with me… The elusive joy of becoming a mother was so overwhelming that for me it was imperative that I enjoy every bit of the growing-up years and soak in the joy of motherhood through Rudransh… That was my world, my family and I was happy and satiated till Anupamaa came along and challenged the actor in me… It is the husband and the family who give you the wings to your dreams… The men in my life Ashwin, Rudransh have been instrumental in me having the courage to bring Rajanji’s vision to screen… As I always say Anupama is his journey and I’m blessed that he has chosen me to walk on her path.”
