Amid Ranveer Allahbadia controversy, THIS comedian’s shows cancelled for…, he worked with Ranbir Kapoor in…

The Ranveer Allahbadia-Samay Raina controversy has been a big topic of discussion for the past few days. Ranveer had appeared on Samay’s comedy show ‘India’s Got Latent’ and made a ‘sex with parents’ remark as a question to a contestant, which received a lot of flak. Along with netizens bashing him, several cases have also been filed against the duo. Amidst all this, another comedian has to bear the brunt for his alleged indecent language, with his shows getting cancelled recently.
Just like the internet doesn’t forget anything, as everything is available just a click away, some people in real life are also the same. Comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi’s shows in Lucknow were recently cancelled after UP’s Women’s Commission sent a letter to the cops to make sure Bassi’s show doesn’t ‘malign women.’.
On February 14, Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission vice-chairperson Aparna Yadav wrote a letter to DGP Prashant Kumar. In the letter, Yadav insisted that Kumar make sure that Anubhav Singh Bassi doesn’t use indecent language against women or make sure to cancel his shows altogether. The letter also mentioned ‘problematic’ language used by the comedian in his previous stand-up comedy acts.
The letter written in Hindi translates to this: It has been known that on February 15, a comedy show of Anurag Singh Bassi is being organised at the Indira Gandhi Pratisthan, Lucknow. After watching his previous shows on his YouTube channel, it has been noted that indecent words are used during his shows. Hence, you (DGP) are expected to please ensure that in this proposed programme and similar programmes of stand-up artists, neither any indecent words nor any undignified comments are made on women. Such shows should be cancelled and not permitted in the future if possible.”

After the letter, Anubhav Singh Bassi’s shows in Lucknow, which were scheduled at 3 and 7 pm, were cancelled on Saturday, February 15. Bassi has not yet reacted to the cancellation of his shows. While talking to the media, Aparna Yadav reacted to the ongoing Ranveer Allahbadia-India’s Got Latent controversy. She said, “I do not believe that hurling abuses at mothers and sisters is necessary to make people laugh.”
To the uninitiated, Anubhav Singh Bassi made his acting debut in Luv Ranjan’s 2023 romantic comedy, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The movie starred Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles.
