Two mega-budget films are currently running in the theatres. Comic caper Housefull 5 starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan and others released on June 6, while Kamla Haasan‘s gangster drama Thug Life released on June 5. Housefull 5 is directed by Tarun Mansukhani and Thug Life is directed by Mani Ratnam. There is massive buzz around both the films, however, one is performing wonderfully well at the box office while other is maintaining stable. Here’s the latest box office report of Housefull 5 and Thug Life.
As reported by Sacnilk.com, Housefull 5 has witnessed a good growth in numbers on day 2. The film stars Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa and others apart from Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan. On day 2, the movie has reportedly made around Rs 30 crore at the box office. On day 1, it had approximately made Rs 24 crore. Thus, the total collection of the movie now stands at Rs 54 crore. In just two days, the movie managed to cross the mark of Rs 50 crore at the box office. However, it is stated that Housefull 5 has been made on a massive budget of around Rs 240 crore. Thus, there is still a long way to go for it to be profitable.
Talking about Thug Life, Kamal Haasan‘s film got mired into several controversies before its release. The film directed by Mani Ratnam reportedly did not get a release in Karnataka due to Kamal Haasan’s controversial statement about Kannada and Tamil. Despite that, the movie has made decent collection over the first three days. As per the report, Thug Life remained stable on day 3, i.e., first Saturday as it made around Rs 7.50 crore. On day 2, the movie had made around Rs 7.15 crore. The opening day collection of the movie was around Rs 15.5 crore. Thus, the total collection of the movie is around Rs 30.15 crore.
