Housefull 5 and Thug Life released recently. Kamal Haasan’s movie made it to the theatres on June 5 while Akshay Kumar’s comedy drama released on June 6. Here’s the box office report.

This week, two major releases, hit the theatres. Hindi comedy drama Housefull 5 starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan made it to the theatres on June 6. The trailer and the songs had already added to the anticipation of the film. The positive reviews added to the hype. But a day before Housefull 5, Kamal Haasan starrer Thug Life released in theatres. Due to a controversy, the movie did not release in the state of Karnataka. So here’s the box office report of both the films.

As per a report in Sacnilk.com, Housefull 5 has taken a good start at the box office. The movie that also stars Nana Patekar, Fardeen Khan, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt and others in key roles apart from Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan has taken a double digit opening at the box office. The early estimates suggest that the movie has earned around Rs 23 crore on its day 1 at the box office. The movie has managed to surpass the numbers registered by its previous instalment – Housefull 4. The movie that released in 2019 made around Rs 19.08 crore at the box office on its opening day. Hosuefull 5 has come with a twist as the film has two endings. Fans can watch Housefull 5A and 5B in theatres to witness two different climaxes.

Talking about Kamal Haasan’s movie Thug Life, the film directed by Mani Ratnam remained in the news ever since the actor made a controversial remark about Kannada and Tamil. Many were irked with his statement ‘Kannada is born out of Tamil.’ This also led to boycott calls in the state of Karnataka. The movie released on June 5 and it took a decent opening of Rs 15.5 crore. However, it witnessed a major dip in numbers on its day 2. Thug Life made around Rs 7.50 crore as per the early estimates. It remains to be seen how well it performs over the weekend.
