One of the most popular fights was between Bollywood divas Aishwarya Rai and Manisha Koirala. This was one of the most intriguing controversies of the decade was an alleged love triangle involving the three most prominent personalities including Manisha, model Rajeev Mulchandani, and Aishwarya.
Well, the supposed triangular romance sparked a controversy and also a media frenzy with netizens talking about the same. Aishwarya Rai broke her silence on the same and set the record straight for all. She revealed that her intention was to shower praise on Manisha for her exceptional performance in the 1995 blockbuster film Bombay. But, later Aishwarya got to know that Manisha had dragged her into a controversy. Yes, you read that right! She got to know that Manisha has linked her name with model Rajeev Mulchandani. In a throwback interview, Aishwarya was shocked to know that Manisha claimed Rajeev had written love letters to her. Aishwarya questioned the timing of the allegations and also questioned why Manisha waited 9 months to bring it up. “I had just watched Bombay and thought Manisha was brilliant. I was even planning to send her a bouquet to congratulate her. On April 1st, Rajeev happened to call me, and I excitedly told him how much I admired Manisha’s performance. That’s when he laughed and asked if I had been reading the papers. He informed me that Manisha had claimed to have found love letters from him to me. I couldn’t believe it! It was a very rude shock,” she had told a publication.
Aishwarya revealed that the love triangle rumour affected her badly and caused her immense pain. She also said, “This Manisha episode really affected me a lot in the beginning. I cried like crazy. I was really hurt miserably by all that was happening around me.”
Later, Manisha defended herself and claimed that she was being misquoted, which likely added to Aishwarya’s distress. Meanwhile, the tabloids and columns spoke about the alleged rivalry between Manisha and Aishwarya for months. The parties involved never publicly confirmed the details of the alleged love triangle. Aishwarya moved on from the controversy, but still, it is one of the most infamous controversies from Bollywood’s past.
On the work front, Manisha was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series Heeramandi. While, Aishwarya is reportedly in talks with filmmaker Mani Ratnam for an upcoming film with husband Abhishek Bachchan.
