Abha Ranta reveals all about her audition scene to play younger Mallikajaan and how she prepared for the role [EXCLUSIVE]

Actress Abha Ranta is currently basking in the glory of the success of her web show- Heeramandi. The actress stole the limelight with her phenomenal portrayal of the younger version of Manisha Koirala’s character, Mallikajaan. Recently, in a conversation with us, Abha shared her reaction when she got to know about her role and the preparation she did.

Abha says, “When I heard about the role, I felt it was truly special. Even the audition scene had a unique and powerful essence that drew me in right away. I knew deep down that I wanted to take on this role. To prepare for it, I delved into watching Manisha mam’s films to grasp her mannerisms and nuances.”
Concluding by revealing how she made an emotional connect with her character, Abha says, “Growing up, I had experiences caring for many stray dogs, which exposed me to loss and grief. The feeling of losing a child in the role resonated with the emotions of losing a beloved pet that I had nurtured and looked after. This personal connection helped me tap into the emotional depth required for the character.”
Heeramandi is helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The web series is streaming on Netflix and is one of the most watched ones. It stars Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sharmin Segal in key roles. The web series also marks Fardeen Khan’s return to acting. Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman play the nawabs in the series. Taha Shah Badussha plays the role of Tajdaar, son of a Nawab, who takes part in India’s freedom struggle. He has won accolades for his role.
