Even though massive progress has been made by making people aware, many women continue to face these challenges and don’t speak up. Reason? It could be out of fear, shame, or complete absence of support. One such thing had happened on the sets of a TV show a few years back. A popular TV actress faced molestation on the sets of her TV show.
The actress – who has been a part of the TV industry for a long time – has been often lauded for her acting prowess. We are talking about Ratan Raajputh. Ratan is known for her incredible performance in the TV show, Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo which had hit TV screens in 2009. Post the successful show, she was seen in several projects like Mahabharat, Vighnaharta Ganesh, Santoshi Maa – Sunayein Vrat Kathayein and more. She had also appeared on Bigg Boss 7 and later roped in Ratan Ka Rishta: Swayamavar.
In 2011, Ratan had chosen Abhinav Sharma as her suitable partner. They did not get married but revealed that they have been engaged. However, they parted ways later. Ratan had faced molestation on the sets of Santoshi Maa.

According to reports, the TV star was shooting for her show when a lightman molested her. Ratan was quick to react and demanded strict punitive action against the unit member. When Ratan realised that her request had fallen on deaf ears, Ratan decided to not shoot until the channel admonished and dismissed the lightman.
“Ratan was groped by a lightman during the shoot and she went up to the person in charge of production demanding strict action against him. But they didn’t heed her plea. She then put her foot down and refused to shoot until the production house took appropriate action. Eventually, they sacked the lightman and requested Ratan to resume shoot,” an eyewitness told Mid-Day.
During an interaction with ETimes, Ratan clarified that she didn’t want to speak about the incident, but also explained that there is no smoke without fire. She had said that she was strong enough to handle things and never used it as a means to get publicity.
In 2022, Ratan had revealed that she was suffering from depression and decided to take a break from work. During her interaction with ETimes, Ratan had explained that she was at the lowest point in her life after her father passed away in 2018. This was also the time when her TV show Santoshi Maa had finished. She said, “After Santoshi Maa got over in 2018, just a day later, I lost my father and that was a terrible blow for me. I went into depression and did not want to do anything.”
