THIS Bollywood actress gained massive popularity with her song and then went away from the public eye for some time. She made a brief return to the spotlight as she participated in Salman Khan’s reality show Bigg Boss season 13 and spoke her heart out about her painful past. We are talking about Koena Mitra who once shared the traumatic story of her past with fellow contestants. She said, “I was very young when I moved out and started working. My parents never expected me to leave Bengal. She said that her former boyfriend physically and emotionally abused her which gave her deep trauma. She even spoke about the importance of speaking out against abuse and seeking help to recover. She also revealed that she dated a Turkish man, a senior pilot. Their relationship ended in 2010 and during her stay in Bigg Boss 13, Koena said that her boyfriend was very possessive. She said that he locked her in the bathroom and stopped her from attending an event because he did not want her to work. He even forced her to visit his parents in Turkey and later threatened to burn her passport after marriage to ensure that she did not leave him. She then decided to stay single. Koena reportedly underwent a plastic surgery in 2010 which went wrong and caused bones to swell. In 2013, she spoke to the Times Of India and said that even doctors could not do much and only medicine and prayers could help her recover. Koena had also explained that her friends rejected her when she tried to go out and the changes on her face made it difficult for her to smile.

Moreover, Koena was convicted in a cheque bounce case by a Mumbai court on July 6 and was sentenced to six months in prison. She was ordered to pay Rs 4.64 lakh in compensation to the complainant model Poonam Sethi. Koena then said that the case was false and she was framed.
