Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani’s Don 3 shooting postponed due to Farhan Akhtar? Read to know what exactly happened
Last year, Farhan Akhtar surprised fans by announcing Don 3. However, instead of Shah Rukh Khan returning to the iconic role, Ranveer Singh was chosen to lead the franchise forward. This news sparked mixed reactions. While some fans of Shah Rukh were disappointed, many were excited to see how Ranveer would portray the famous antihero. The makers also cast Kiara Advani as the female lead. But now, there’s an update that may disappoint Ranveer and Kiara’s fans.
The filming of Don 3 has been delayed once again. Originally, there were rumours that production would start earlier this year. Farhan Akhtar had later confirmed that filming would begin in January 2025. However, the latest report suggests that this date has been pushed back further due to Farhan’s upcoming acting project. On August 4, Farhan shared on Instagram that he would be starring as Major Shaitan Singh PVC in a movie about the 1962 Indo-China War, titled 120 Bahadur. He also shared the first look of his character and confirmed that filming for this project had already started.
An inside source told News18’s Showsha entertainment news portal that Farhan Akhtar is focused on completing his work on 120 Bahadur before starting work on Don 3. This film will take a few months to shoot, so the first schedule for Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani’s Don 3 has been moved to May or June of next year. Additionally, Singh is very busy working on an untitled Aditya Dhar film. On the other hand, Kiara is currently working alongside Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in Ayan Mukerji’s War 2.
Along with 120 Bahadur and Don 3 as his directorial projects, Farhan Akhtar also has to direct Jee Le Zara. The movie stars Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt. However, there has been no update on this female road trip movie yet.

As for Don 3, fans will have to wait a little longer to see Ranveer in action. The Don series first started with Amitabh Bachchan in 1978, where Zeenat Aman played the female lead. Farhan Akhtar rebooted the franchise with Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra starring in the 2006 and 2011 versions. Fans are now eager to see how Ranveer Singh will bring a new twist to this beloved role.
