So far, Stree 2 has emerged as the biggest hit of 2024. The horror comedy is a follow-up to the 2018 film Stree. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the film stars Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. It is the fourth film from Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe, and the excitement is quite high among the fans to know what’s next. In one of the post-credits scenes, the makers teased us about a vampire movie reportedly titled Vampires of Vijay Nagar. There have been reports for a long time that Ayushmann Khurrana will play the lead role.
BollywoodLife spoke to Stree 2 writer Niren Bhatt about the love Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe has received and how people are looking forward to more movies from them. We also asked him if he was working as the writer on Ayushmann Khurrana’s Vampire movie. Bhatt, who worked as a screenwriter for Munjya and writer for Bhediya, revealed that he is also associated with that film. He also provided an update on when they might potentially begin work on the film.
When asked about Ayushmann Khurrana’s Vampires of Vijay Nagar, Niren Bhatt said, “I have been working on that film too, and it’s in good shape now. It is going to start soon. I don’t know exactly when. I think it should start in the next 3-4 months.”
Regarding the hype and expectations people have for Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe, the writer of Stree 2 stated, “The universe we have created doesn’t have the luxury of having, say, 50 years of history of comic books like DC or Marvel has.” All those characters are already established. Everyone knows who’s SpiderMan; everyone knows who is Captain America. Everyone is familiar with their individual stories, as well as the stories that bring them together. All those stories are already there in terms of comics. What we are trying to do is we are trying to create our own characters. We are trying to create our own world, and then we are trying to connect them. So this is a nascent stage, and of course, the scales, the storytelling, VFX, everything will improve as we go ahead. We will serve the audiences in a more effective way. We’ll keep improving our films.”

The makers have not yet made an official announcement regarding Vampires of Vijay Nagar. However, in the post-credit scene of Stree 2, Varun Dhawan’s Bhaskar warns Abhishek Banerjee’s Jana of a vampire attacking humans and sucking their blood. Earlier, Aparshakti Khurana also shared his excitement of his brother joining the same horror-comedy universe he is a part of.
